E-Commerce Delivers in KC
From February 2012 to July 2014, the total impact of the e-commerce industry in Kansas City has included adding 275 jobs and more than 919,000 sq. ft. of space. The most recent facilities to enter the KC region are FoodServiceWarehouse.com that located in a 475,200-sq.-ft. facility in Kansas City, Missouri and Amazon, which is leasing a 260,000-sq.-ft. facility in Lenexa, Kansas.

Manufacturers find several advantages in Kansas City’s transportation infrastructure as well. “People can come here and occupy a facility and move their product efficiently,” says David Hinchman, first vice president, CBRE.
There are close to 1,500 acres of land for intermodal use in the Kansas City region among the three rail-served intermodal logistics parks. “Most of the project activity we are seeing in intermodal is companies that need to take advantage of the transportation efficiencies and savings that intermodal provides,” Meyer says.
