CSXT Intermodal has announced the BNSF Rail has placed a temporary hold on rail cargo moving into the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Units bound for the rail terminals in the Pacific Northwest will be placed on hold at their origin until further notice.

The rail is making this move due to Port Congestion in the Seattle/Portland/Tacoma area.New-Paint-9

Please see the following breakdown of what will be affected:
1.) Imports/East Bound cargo discharging  in Seattle/Tacoma/Portland will not be affected at this time.
2.) West Bound cargo moving into Seattle, Portland, Tacoma will be placed on temporary hold by the Rail. This includes Imports which have discharged on the East Coast.

This embargo will remain in place until further notice.

There is further notice that the Norfolk Southern Railroad will close their ramps at Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Huntsville for any traffic destined to the Pacific Northwest Terminals in Seattle / Tacoma.  This is also due to the terminal congestion in those ports.
