The International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union Local 63 has shut down operations at the Port of LA’s APL Terminal from September 28 through September 29, 2017.  Unfortunately, this is one of the hardest weeks for importers considering everyone is seeking to get their holiday freight in and avoid the delays that Golden Week brings.

A Customer Advisory Notice by OOCL states,

Customer Advisory: Operation Delays at the APL Terminal (Eagle Marine Terminal) at Port of Los Angeles

Dear Valued OOCL Customer

Our Terminal Operator Partner at the APL Terminal has notified temporary halt to operations today 9/28/2017 and the day shift tomorrow 9/29/2017 owing to labor disruption, with full resumption of services expected on the night shift tomorrow; see below eModal announcement.

It is the Terminal Operator’s position that demurrage will continue to accrue during this labor disruption. Free time on import shipments may be extended, provided a motor carrier had an appointment already established in the terminal system.  Please have your motor carrier check the terminal system for any applicable demurrage charges. We encourage you to pick up your shipments as soon as possible once the terminal reopens.

Scarbrough continues to monitor the situation and will keep our clients updated if cargo is effected. For any questions, please email info@scarbrough-intl.com.
