The World Trade Bridge will be Closed Indefinitely until Further Notice

Heavy storms, flash floods and a tornado have been reported to hit areas of Laredo, Texas and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on Sunday, May 21, 2017.  Mexico Customs and U.S. Customs offices were both affected, including the World Trade Bridge, one of the main bridges at the border.  Mexico and U.S. Customs have agreed to temporarily close the World Trade Bridge and divert all commercial traffic to the Columbia-Solidarity Bridge.  FAST, Perishables, and medical-related shipments will take precedence over other shipments as truck lanes become operational at World Trade Bridge.

Due to power outages, flooding and structural damage sustained from heavy rains and high winds on Sunday, May 21, by joint agreement between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Laredo Port of Entry and Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT), Aduana Mexico and the cities of Laredo, Nuevo Laredo, cargo operations will be temporarily suspended at World Trade Bridge effective on Monday, May 22, 2017. Commercial traffic will be rerouted to the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge. Please stay tuned for updates regarding business resumption at World Trade Bridge. As provided for by bi-national business resumption plans, CBP and SAT will work collaboratively to prioritize FAST, perishable, and medical related shipments as truck lanes become operational at WTB.

Scarbrough’s Laredo Office

All of our employees are safe; however, some have damage to their homes. We ask our clients and vendors to avoid calling our Laredo office at this time as phone service is a challenge and we want to prioritize calls.  However, all our Laredo numbers are currently being forwarded to our Headquarters in Kansas City where you will be taken care of. In addition, please direct ALL your emails to laredo@scarbrough-intl.com instead of your direct contact.

Thank you all for your support as we move forward.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated. In the meantime, please pray for our friends in Laredo.
