As a result of the COVID-19 / Coronavirus pandemic and its effect on importers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has created a program and is now accepting requests for payment extensions on duties owed to U.S. Customs. Importers are directed to send requests by email to email@example.com. A Federal Register notice is still to come with more detail. Some rumors include granting a 90-day extension for duty payments, which will come by Presidential proclamation. and extending time frames to present increased bonds where an importer has been issued a bond insufficiency notice. Currently the requests are done on a case-by-case basis.View CBP Cargo Systems Message
