Expected Impact of strike(s) in Greece are as follows:

  • International routes of containerships to/from Greek ports will not be affected as they are generally not served with Greek ships.
  • Cargo movement from/to Greek islands is suspended during strike period(s). This will affect island bound FCL, LCL, FTL and LTL shipments.
  • As route Italy-Greece is served by Greek ferries, passages of trucks from Italian to Greek ports are suspended, alternative route is via Balkans North of Greece. Several trucks may be blocked at Italian ports. Turnaround of trucks in European routes and scheduling will be disrupted. Delays are expected in passage and positioning of Greek trucks to Northern Europe.
  • If prolonged, the strike may affect generally Greek exports and particularly those shipments to overseas markets linking up overland LTL to Northern European LCL consolidation hubs .
