Innovation

Being one of the government’s technological innovators, Scarbrough was one of the first brokers to transition to U.S. Customs’ new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) in 2009.

ACE is a new system to modernize trade by providing a single window of operation for U.S. Customs and Border Protection along with all other Government Agencies including FDA and USDA. Because of Scarbrough’s innovative reputation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection selected Scarbrough to be one of only twenty U.S. Customs Brokers in the nation to participate in the new “Simplified Entry Pilot Program.”

Scarbrough also helped to bring this pilot, which was designed to enhance air freight security and provide quicker releases to importers to all of Missouri international airports in 2014.

Scarbrough's technology expands to its operating system, which provides state-of-art tracking, automated notification capabilities and customized reporting.

 
Knowledge and Expertise

The faces of Scarbrough, its leaders and its people are what make the organization the number one industry leader and trade expert in the Midwest. Over 55% of its import operations staff are Licensed Customs Brokers.

Scarbrough’s leaders participate in a number of industry related organizations, forums, and events and are a continued resource for the trade community. Scarbrough, again as an industry leader, also volunteers time to participate in the Trade Support Network, The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) and Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), and International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA) just to name a few.

Scarbrough is widely known for its participation in local economic development centers across the nation, local Licensed US Customs Brokers Associations, local Chambers, local World Trade Centers, and International Trade groups.

 
Customer Service

Unlike large conglomerates with automated answering services, Scarbrough offers a single point of contact for each service it provides. Scarbrough’s clients take pride in knowing their Scarbrough Client Relations manager and dedicated customer service reps on a professional and personal level. Scarbrough is known for customizing its notification services and communications to cater to clients’ needs and expectations.

 
Community Involvement

Scarbrough’s community service program, “Scarbrough Servants,” was established in 2009 with a vision to encourage employees to reach out as volunteers to help community needs through service and sacrifice. Roger and Jeannie Scarbrough, both activists in community and global servant hood, wanted their employees to know that feeling of gratification when helping others.

Since the program has been established, Scarbrough employees average about 1000 community service hours throughout the course of each year. Whether they are volunteering during work hours or not, it is always highly encouraged. Employees are given 8 hours paid per year to go out and volunteer. Moreover, Roger and Jeannie Scarbrough personally are both very involved in the community, serving on non-profit organization boards, participating in missions, and constantly leading by example by giving back and paying it forward.
