NY-NJ, Oakland container terminals forced to seek longer gate hours

“With container volumes back to pre-recession levels and carriers deploying super-post-Panamax ships in the U.S. trades, terminal operators at the ports of New York-New Jersey and Oakland dread the need for extended gate hours.
The challenge will be to develop extended-gate programs that meet the needs of beneficial cargo owners and truckers while at the same time pricing the terminal services in an equitable and transparent way in order to avoid significant pushback from the port community.”
