Container and Trailer
Security/Security Imperatives |
|
|
|
|
Scarbrough
has a further obligation as a C-TPAT certified and validated Customs
Broker to inform all business partners about Container and Trailer
Security. Please review the following security imperatives that each
business partner must follow:

It is critical that importers and/or their business partners have
security procedures in place at the point of stuffing to include
procedures to inspect, properly seal and maintain the integrity of
shipping containers and trailers. This includes utilization of the
seven-point inspection process for empty containers prior to the
loading of cargo as well as the seventeen-point inspection process
for all trailers/tractors.
Further, seals used to secure loaded containers and trailers bound
for the US must meet or exceed the current PAS ISO 17712 standards
for high security seals. All loaded containers bound for the US must
have these seals affixed. Importers and/or their business partners
must institute procedures for recognizing and reporting compromised
seals the CBP or the appropriate international authority. |
