Missouri Trade Mission to CHINA '07

Missouri's Department of Economic Development has organized a Trade Mission to China, giving businesses an opportunity to explore Chinese trade and begin to develop a plan for international business.

China holds huge potential for Missouri exporters, particularly in key sectors such as energy, environmental technology, biotechnology, medical equipment, construction, services and franchising. In 2006, Missouri exported more than $769 million in goods to China, an increase of 53.99% over 2005, ranking China 4th among the 232 international buyers of Missouri goods. more importantly, state exports have increased over the last 5 years by $660,935,976 an increase of 610.27%.

Shenyang (Pop: 7.21 million), the capital of Liaoning Province, is an economic, cultural, financial and commercial center in the southern part of northeast china. through years of development, Shenyang has over 5800 industrial manufacturers with net fixed assets of RMB 26.7 billion, which covers over 140 industrial categories, and a complete set of industries. Shenyang is also rich in resources, which lays a solid foundation for economic development.

Beijing (Pop: 14.9 million), the capital of China, is a cultural, educational and scientific development center. Beijing has grown rapidly in commercial and service activities in recent years. the 2008 Olympics will provide hundreds of opportunities for U.S. firms, and the Beijing science and technology park continues to attract multiple technology companies for trade and investment purposes.

Shanghai (Pop: 18.7 million) is now firmly established as the country's leading financial and commercial center. since 1992, Shanghai has achieved double-digit growth in its GDP rate for fourteen consecutive years. in 2005, shanghai's growth rate reached 11.1%. Shanghai operates the largest and busiest port in China with foreign trade volume accounting for a quarter of the country's total. the 2010 world expo will provide hundreds of opportunities for U.S. firms.
